Here’s what’s happening later today that will affect you, if you live, work or play in Boca.
City council will tackle these updates and discussions:
· The city just installed 24 bright blue pavement decals. The signs are designed to help people find Mizner Park, Royal Palm Place and other attractions. This is just the start of plans to help people navigate downtown on foot. Expect an update on pedestrian safety.
· A progress report is expected on a waterfront park on the Intracoastal at Palmetto Park Road. Plans call for a connector under the bridge between Silver Palm Park and the old Wildflower site across the street. Silver Palm is the only city dock.
Wildflower hasn’t been developed yet. But the park will stay open to the public until construction begins.
· What to do about sanitation costs have been flying under the radar for months. A discussion on trash pickup and the city’s intentions is on the agenda.
· When will the western municipal golf course on Glades Road close? When will the city close the deal with GL Homes to build houses there? Will there be a golf gap between closing this course and opening the planned public Boca National Golf Club? That’s also up for decisions.
These two meetings are back to back and always held the day before the regular city council meeting. They start at 1:30 p.m. today in city hall. The council meeting is at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
We’ll let you know what happens.
