Restaurant news came out of the wildly successful food-tasting tailgate, the lead-up to Dec. 21’s Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl.
Charity partner Spirit of Giving checked in 300+ fans to check out bites and brews by 26 vendors in the Renaissance. After chowing down for three hours, the crowd and serious food mavens judged. The winners were Boca Raton Resort & Club for their sloppy joes and delish polenta dish. Mad Robot Brewing Co. won for their Mexican Chocolate Cake Stout.
Here’s where the restaurant news comes in.
Ceasar’s Famous Ribs captured the People’s Choice award for their pulled pork and jerk ribs. A known BBQ chef from catering and other Boca food-tastings, Bill Ceasar announced he’ll finally have his own restaurant, thanks to Delray’s CRA.
Sammy J’s Kitchen & Cocktail had a shrimp dish that got high praise from the crowd. The former Tilted Kilt next to Cinemark on Airport Road changed concept but kept the same ownership.
Desserts were hard to pass up, so we didn’t. Melting Pot had their wonderful chocolate-covered strawberries. And Seasons 52 featured a mini pumpkin pie topped by a ginger snap.
La Boulangerie Boul’Mich, the French bakery coming to Town Center at Boca Raton mall, laid out an array of croissants. We hope nobody was counting. We took three home.
Here’s the link to tickets for the game in FAU Stadium and broadcast on ABC-TV. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m. Saturday Dec. 21. https://www.cheribundibocaratonbowl.com/
