City of Boca issuing citations for litter, noise, and other violations

Own too many cats and dogs? Didn’t bother to get a garage sale permit?  Get ready for the city to hand out citations to code violators to pay, comply or contest to a magistrate.

City council OK’d the new pilot program. It’s expected to discourage repeat violations, Development Services director Brandon Schaad said in his presentation.

“This takes effect immediately, but it will take a couple of weeks,” he added.

Here’s what else city council approved Tuesday:

  • $6.8 million for Phase II of Hillsboro El Rio Park on 18th Street. The park has been on the drawing board for years.  Here is a link to the site plan.
  • Approved $375,000 and police and other staff services for the 13th PGA Champions Tour. The professional golf tournament is Feb. 4 through 10 at the Old Course at Broken Sound. This is the city’s usual grant. It was more last year, but the tournament found a sponsor to replace Allianz.  The event is looking for volunteers.  Click here if you’d like to volunteer.
  • Tickets are already on sale at the PGA tour site.
  • Saint Andrews School got the OK to build a 4,800-square-foot advancement building with 14 parking spaces.
