If you click on Duffy’s Sports Grill, “feast on fajitas” comes up. The Mexican favorite is one of 10 new dishes on the menu.
Think Maine lobster mac and cheese. A new veggie Impossible burger. Mahi Reuben and French dip sandwiches. A giant soft pretzel with a creamy beer cheese sauce. Coconut shrimp with a spicy orange ginger sauce. Two new dips for their famous wings; lemon pepper spice and Florida Heat Wave that speaks for itself.
Their grilled turkey burger is tweaked with mashed avocado and pepper jack cheese on a brioche bun. Mahi mahi is a new add-on for Caesar salad and lobster for the cobb. Tex-Mex with citrus chili-grilled chicken or sirloin or sautéed shrimp is new to the salad menu. You can now add jumbo grilled shrimp or a house or Caesar side salad to any entrée.
Fajitas come sizzling with steak, shrimp, chicken or a combo and all the trimmings like guacamole. It comes with four tacos and you can ask for more.
The dish is already a hit with Duffy diners. “It’s our best-selling entrée,” said Jason Emmett, president of 34 Duffy’s Sports Grill restaurants, 14 in Palm Beach County. “French dip is a best-selling sandwich.”
If you’re a Duffy’s dessert eater, leave room for the new mint ice cream and Oreo crust pie with chocolate chunks.
And don’t worry about your old favorites, whether it’s wings, burgers, ribs or any of their starters, soups or entrees. They’re still on the menu that includes a calories count for each dish. They always have two-for-one drinks.
Disclaimer here. My husband and I are weekly regulars at the east Boca restaurant on St. Andrews Boulevard by Town Center at Boca Raton mall.
We’ve been there for kids eat free Wednesdays [on the kids’ menu] and ribs and other specials Thursdays. My husband’s a big ribs fan. I lean toward their Ahi tuna poke bowl with rice and beans and avocado, or sesame-crusted ahi tuna with Soba noodles.
We’re Duffy’s MVP All Stars, a free loyalty program that accumulates points. Ours is a higher level, giving us seating access and points that add up quickly for food and beverage discounts. That includes birthday meals. Yes, my husband celebrated his birthday there.
Duffy’s has a covered porch with ceiling fans in east Boca, and outdoor dining on a lake at their large west Boca restaurant in Mission Bay. There’s plenty of TVs to watch, but they’re not a sports bar.
“We consider ourselves a restaurant that features sports. We’re serious about the quality of our food and hospitality,” Emmett said.
