A well-known South Florida French bakery and restaurant has signed a lease for their sixth location in Town Center at Boca Raton mall. LaBoulangerie Boul’Mich will start renovating their indoor-outdoor space in March, said Avy Cohen, one of five partners. They expect a fall opening and will also have a kiosk.
“We’ll be at the valet parking entrance between Saks and Macy’s. You can come to the space, even if the mall isn’t open yet,” Cohen said. He expects breakfast to be particularly strong. Venetian Nails & Spa is there now and will relocate to The Terrace section, mall management said.
The restaurant and bakery will bring their menu of homemade croissants and soups, sandwiches on French baguettes, assorted pasta’s, and desserts. “It’s good family food and that’s been a great success for us,” Cohen said. They’re food perfectionists and only bake a certain number of croissants daily, he added.
The restaurants started as an artisanal bakery in Key Biscayne. Now they’re in Aventura and two Miami locations. Fort Lauderdale opened over a month ago. “Boca made sense for us. We’re growing,” Cohen said. But they’re not franchised. “So far, all the stores are corporate owned and funded by us,” he added.
Look for ‘coming soon’ signs at the mall around March. “Right now, all the drawings are with Simon for review. Then we’ll go through the city,” Cohen said about approvals and permits.
Job wise, they expect to hire 20 to 25 workers. “Once we start remodeling, we’ll put up posters and take referrals,” he said.
As a Venezuelan, Cohen said the restaurant name stands for the part of Paris where French and Latin cultures come together.
“We are thrilled for the fall opening of La Boulangerie Boul’Mich, which will be located at the new Oak Tree Valet entrance,” mall general manager Sal Saldana said in a statement. “The restaurant is a continuation of Town Center, and its prime location ushers shoppers into the luxury run at the center.”
