Golf for fun and a good cause

“Play Fore the Kids!” drew 124 golfers for a day of fun at Boca Grove to benefit Boca’s biggest children’s agency.

“We serve 900 children and their families who are one paycheck away from a crisis,” CEO Ellyn Okrent said at the awards barbecue. Florence Fuller Child Development Centers in east and west Boca benefited from the Rotary Club of Boca Raton Sunrise 32nd tournament.

Club president Stan Civin presented Pinnacle Advertising CEO Peter Gary with Rotary’s Paul Harris Award as the 2019 honoree. “We thank you for your years of service to the community,” he said to applause. “This award is for tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations to the people of the world.”

Club director Dr. Steve Alman stood in as emcee for golf outing chairman Norman Matus. Club sergeant-at-arms Charlie Shalmi encouraged bids on the silent auction.
