The Boca Raton GreenMarket is relocating to the north parking lot at City Hall starting Saturday.
Market director of the GreenMarket Emily Lilly sees the move as a fresh start after 22 years at Royal Palm Place. “The market will continue to be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the same variety of quality vendors,” she said.
The new site is at 201 W. Palmetto Park Road, on the northwest corner at Southwest Second Avenue. There’s also a large parking lot around the corner behind the Boca Raton Community Center at 150 Crawford Blvd.
The move is permanent and was confirmed by assistant city manager Mike Woika Tuesday.
The GreenMarket was always held during the season on the plaza at Royal Palm Place fronting Federal Highway. But parking became an issue.
“It was evident that the market has grown to such an extent that we had outgrown the location; it was especially noticeable this year with crowded parking,” Lilly said. “I personally can understand the feelings of many business owners both for and against a move.”She thanked Royal Palm Place owner Jim Batmasian and the city for the old and new sites.
“As to whether the move will impact attendance, our vendors have built a relationship with the public they serve and have regular loyal customers who will come no matter where we are located,” Lilly said.
