Yes, that was the Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus in the golf cart last week to personally inspect the new Via Mizner Golf & City Club course. Nicklaus firm is designing the new course in Boca Del Mar.
The golf icon was here last Tuesday, confirmed Fred Weed of Penn-Florida. Weed is the developer of the amenity course for the 92 condos in The Residences Mandarin Oriental Boca Raton.
The course, under construction by Nicklaus Design, will be entirely new, Weed said.
The clubhouse will be demolished to make way for buildings for dining, golf, fitness, locker rooms and a pool.
The condos and Mandarin Oriental hotel are going up now on Federal Highway just north of Camino Real and the existing 101 Via Mizner apartments, Weed confirmed.
The urban resort will have luxury retail and dining. A private, New York-style City Club is offered with the golf membership.

Boca Raton, Florida. – After a very busy construction schedule this summer, Jack Nicklaus, Senior Design Associate Chris Cochran and Nicklaus Design staffers gathered recently for a day in the dirt and South Florida heat at Via Mizner Golf and City Club.
This time, the working site visit focused on the back-nine holes. Jack and the team are in the process of finalizing the tees and green contours. As well as developing a strategy for some of the holes.
The team has a lot of work yet to complete before nine holes open later this year. All 18 holes scheduled for completion early next year.
