You can still buy a ticket. But Boca’s biggest salute to women volunteers for local charities and Saks Fifth Avenue’s fall fashion preview will go virtual this year.
Junior League of Boca Raton’s 33rd Annual Woman Volunteer of the Year will be Nov. 13. A pre-event is 6:30 to 7 p.m. and the main event is 7 to 8:30 p.m. https://www.jlbr.org/woman-volunteer-of-the-year-2/
“We did not ask for nominees. This is a time people need to be bonded and coming together for the impact women volunteers make in our community,” said League president Cristy Stewart-Harfmann.
Instead of choosing a Woman Volunteer of the Year as the finale, all nominees will be honored. For $50, ticket holders will see a retrospective and a lookback at all 685 nominees, she added about “Honoring the History of Women Volunteers.”
Saks Fifth Avenue’s fashion show will also go virtual, too. “This year, Saks Fifth Avenue will present a fashion-filled virtual moment featuring Saks Fifth Avenue fashion director Roopal Patel. Along with a host of other special guests, they will speak to the state of fashion today, current trends and their outlook on the future of fashion, a Saks spokeswoman said.
The League will still do a $100 chance for a “table upgrade.” The Saks Fifth Avenue table raffle winner will receive dinner and cocktails at the Boca Raton Resort & Club for herself and nine friends and a swag bag with gifts for more than $500. Dinner guests will go live from the Resort during the virtual Woman Volunteer of the Year. The raffle will be drawn Nov. 5. Raffle tickets are $100.
The fundraiser will also include a silent auction that goes live Monday, Oct. 26. Auction items up for bid will include packages including Invisalign and a high-end men’s package. There will also be $75 mystery bundles with at least three items, such as beauty products, technology and home décor.
A live auction during the event will include a three-day, two-night stay at the completely redone Boca Raton Club at the Beach Club (formerly the Boca Raton Resort) in an oceanfront room with a sky deck, daily breakfast and a cabana, a $3,000 value. Also a four-night stay at L’Habitation in Key West with a day at sea on a solar-powered yacht. A $3,000 Saks Fifth Avenue shopping and styling experience will also be bid. The live auction will be part of the event for ticket holders, the president added.
A bid from the heart will help raise money for the League’s diaper bank and other programs to benefit children and the community.
“Yvette Drucker and Nancy Walsh have done a remarkable job of pivoting the event to a virtual one and have an exciting evening planned!” Stewart-Harfmann said about the co-chairs. Robin Deyo is honorary chair.
“We’re hoping to be back next year, but happy to do this event. We’ve had huge support and still have sponsorships available,” the president said.
The presenting sponsor is the Junior League of Boca Raton 1971 Society. The recognition sponsors are Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute and Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation.
