Would you walk a few blocks for a Lyft?
That’s what the ride-sharing app is hoping, even in Boca’s hot and humid weather months. The new program includes pickups and drop-offs.
Lyft says their new Shared Saver program lets riders “simply walk up to a few blocks to ensure drivers are taking the most efficient route.”
The trade-off is what the company calls “fares significantly lower than Lyft’s other rideshare offerings.”
Roughly 40 percent of Lyft rides are shared in South Florida, the company says, but noted that’s not through Shared Saver.
Sharing rides per se means “less cars on the road in South Florida…by alleviating traffic,’’ the company added.
Here’s how the new program works:
· Set destination, then set ride type to Shared Saver
· Tap confirm pickup area to see where you might be walking to request your ride
· When your Shared Saver is confirmed, Lyft will notify where to walk, less than a few blocks.
· Once Lyft finds your drop-off point it will show where to walk
