From Boca to fame! Boca Raton resident Nick Aquilino recently won the Boca Idol Contest and is eager to share his new single! This 19-year-old blew the crowd away after competing against eight other singers who were finalists with the well-known song, “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars. Due to his exciting win, he will be performing the National Anthem at the Boca Raton Bowl this December.
The show was a huge hit when the finalists sang in front of over 300 people at Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery Boca Raton. Entry to the event benefited the Boca Raton Bowl’s Charity Partner Spirit of Giving. They ended up raising a total of $3,000 to help those in need.
“This was a marvelous community event, from the more than 30 entries, the 8,000+ public votes cast online, to the wall-to-wall attendance on finalist night,” said Boca Raton Bowl Executive Director Doug Mosley.
Nick’s style of singing combines pop and R&B, and he is even looking to bring back the sound of the 90s!
His impressive past stage performances include opening for Phil Collins and George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. He is currently attending Berklee College of Music and is looking forward to coming back home!
