Palmetto Park Road detours start Sunday…4 turnpike plazas to go cashless

This week’s Boca traffic alerts cover I-95 and four toll plazas on Florida’s Turnpike.

Bridge beam settings will fully close Palmetto Park Road at I-95 overnight this Sunday through Thursday, March 10 to 14. Hours are 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to FDOT.

The eastbound detour on I-95 is Hillsboro Boulevard westbound. Westbound traffic will be detoured off the Glades Road exit.

FDOT’s express lane project on I-95 includes bridge widening at Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real.

Traffic on Camino continues to be periodically disrupted during week days. One lane is closed in each direction as needed 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

On the turnpike, all-electric tolling will start at 7 p.m. next Friday March 15 at four toll plazas in Broward County.

·    Sample Road, exit 69

·    Coconut Creek Parkway, exit 67

·    Cypress Creek Mainline toll plaza, mile post 63

·    Commercial Boulevard, exit 62

That means no more cash at those exits. Tolls will only be collected electronically or by FDOT’s toll-by-plate transponder.

The SunPass Mini transponder cost $4.99 and is available at Publix Super Markets, CVS and Walgreens pharmacies, and turnpike service plaza gift shops are among thousands of retail locations, according to FDOT.
