Baptist Health South Florida is the medical network Boca Raton Regional Hospital picked to join, the hospital announced.
Boca Regional started the search a year ago by looking at 12 possible partners and narrowed the choices down to five in March.
“We are pleased with the board’s decision to move forward with Baptist,” Jerry Fedele, President, and CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital said in the announcement.
The other possible choices were Cleveland Clinic, Memorial Healthcare System, Novant Health and Orlando Health
Boca Raton Regional has a medical center with 400 beds on campus at 800 Meadows Road with specialty facilities including a neuroscience center, a rehabilitation center and a cancer center for women.
Baptist Health South Florida has 10 hospitals, including Bethesda East and West in Boynton Beach and a children’s hospital in Miami.
Among the final steps will be negotiating a formal letter to complete agreements before Boca Regional joins the Baptist organization.
“We are most confident we can reach a final agreement and that our inclusion in the Baptist System will make the whole of the new organization greater than the sum of its parts,” Dick Schmidt, Boca Regional’s former trustee chairman who headed the search committee, said in the announcement.
