You’ve been dreaming about it for years – or even decades.
A spring evening stroll by the Eiffel Tower, a romantic gondola ride in Venice, a zip lining adventure over the Mombacho Volcano in Nicaragua, following Socrates footsteps through the Acropolis in Athens – If one of your resolutions was to finally get out there and travel – go.
“There’s old saying, travel is the only thing in life that truly makes you richer,” said Christina Carr, owner of the brand-new Four Corners Travel and Concierge in Boca Raton.
“We just came through the holiday season, why do we love Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah, it’s because we enjoy spending time together with the people we don’t see often enough. That’s the time to start planning trips so that we can spend more time together.”
They do say, travel is good for the soul.
“To be able to go into these countries these cities or even these islands allow us to escape our everyday reality, but really, it brings us back to reality to go relax to enjoy the basics of life, to see how other people live their lives on a day-to-day basis.”
Travel is how Carr has been living her day to day, year to year – her whole life. In fact, one might say Carr has travel experience coursing through her veins – her parents were also both travel agents.
“I was born and raised in the travel industry,” said Carr. “However, I did not join the industry until 2008. What inspired me to open Four Corners was wanting to operate a company that provides their clients with 24/7 access to their adviser. Growing up I saw how my parents provided this service and it was important for me to do the same.”
That’s the key ingredient that sets Four Corners apart, personalized customer service, where every client is treated like a VIP, answering the call, no matter what time zone you find yourself in.
“Being available 24/7 through our dedicated concierge travel line whether you are a traveler on a limited budget or an endless budget. Other agencies provide what they call, Best Service, our agency provides Quintessential Travel Service – Better than the best.”
Carr’s personal expertise is custom travel.
“Whether my client is seeking for me to create a land trip in Africa from start to finish, looking for me to customize around a cruise in the Mediterranean or even a World Cruise. If they want me to build an itinerary for them or the family onboard a private jet with private tours, hand selected hotels or villas, from the type of pillows they request, type of shampoo, whatever.”
Four Corners also has travel advisors who specialize in sports travel, first-time cruisers travel, music travel, group travel – name it.
“We believe in not having one person that thinks they know everything, but we have a few that love, are passionate and believe in their own niche,” said Carr.
With the advent of the internet, people associate travel agents with the dinosaur – a dying breed or that they’re great for older people who don’t know how to use technology. Let’s face it, with all the travel sites online offering terrific rates, why would anyone need to use a travel agent anymore?
Carr has the answer, peace of mind and perks.
“First it costs nothing at all to use a travel agent,” said Carr. “Because of competition among these online sites, it has become so overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong; they’re great resources, but at the end of the day, you’re trusting a third party’s advice, you’re winging it. If something goes wrong, who are you going to call? My clients trust me. They know if something goes wrong, I can resolve it. They have a direct connection with 24/7 service.”
Carr can also offer special incentives that you won’t be getting online. It all about the agent’s ability to develop relationships with the resorts and the various vacation properties all-around the world that gets her client’s additional perks like resort credits and free breakfasts, something if they booked online, they’d completely miss out on.
These relationships extend from the vacation spots to the clients themselves.
“My current clients are practically family,” said Carr. “They can call or text me 24/7. If there is an issue no matter what time of day or night, I resolve it.”
As far as future clients Carr intends on winning them over with true customer care.
“I hope to establish a connection with them that shows them that the old-school service combined with today’s technology is here,” said Carr. “I want them to know that there is someone available past the hours of 9-5. That our relationship is not just a business transaction but about me curating the most unforgettable travel experiences for them and their families.”
