South county’s own chart-topping songwriter Dennis Lambert will perform at a brunch to benefit The Arthritis Foundation. It’s a first for both of them. “It has been 10 years since we’ve held a fundraiser in Boca and this our first time at The Addison,” said executive director Kim Marlow.
The Mardi Gras Jazz Brunch is Sunday, March 3 at The Addison. The event will have food and a theme to celebrate the famous New Orleans’ event later that week. A reception and silent auction is 11 a.m. Lambert and company will perform at noon.
Lambert’s known for his mega hits for the Four Tops, Glen Campbell and other famous performers. “I’ll play my most famous songs and talk about them,” the 12-time nominated Grammy Award winner and a longtime local resident told Boca Voice.
“Ain’t No Woman,” “One Tin Soldier,” “We Built This City,” and “Night Shift” are on Lambert’s playlist for the benefit.
“The jazz group are really great musicians,” Lambert said. “I have a guest performer, vocalist Tammy Andrews and I’ve worked with her before.” Emcee for the event is Joe Johnson, the host of “Morning Edition” on South Florida’s National Public Radio station 91.3 FM.
“The Arthritis Foundation does great work to provide resources, services, and support to many people with serious arthritis and related diseases, particularly children,” he said in a statement.
“Many of our families who have children affected by juvenile arthritis are volunteering their time,” Marlow added. “We’re excited to have Dennis Lambert as our guest performer.”
Tickets are $125 or $250 for a couple at The Arthritis Foundation event site.
