International Coastal Cleanup volunteers can sign up or show up to rid Boca’s beaches of litter early Saturday.
Several groups are coordinating efforts for volunteers. Here’s the choices.
· No signups necessary for South Florida Spearfishing Club’s cleanup 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Palm Beach County’s South Inlet Park. Just wear comfy shoes, a hat and bring your own water, said coordinator Joe Rossok. The club provides disposable gloves, buckets and trash bags. T-shirts first come, first serve. Meet in Eshleman Pavilion on the northeast side of the park at 1100 S. Ocean Blvd. The club provides a barbecue afterwards, Rossok said.
· Boca Save Our Beaches requests signups for their cleanup 9 to 11 a.m. at South Beach Park, 400 N. State Road, A1A.
The web site will alert volunteers they’re at capacity, said founder Jessica Gray.
“Dress for Florida weather,” including sunscreen, she added.
They’ll provide the cleanup supplies and water stations for fill-ups. Children 18 and younger require a parental signature. T-shirts while they last.
· Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful is coordinating most of the cleanups in Boca and beyond. Keep an eye on their detailed website.
· Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is again providing the point person for the 8 to 11 a.m. cleanup/meet up in Spanish River Park. Visit their web site for group signup registration or call 561-544-8606.
Groups may be assigned to other municipal beach locations, according to the Palm Beach Beautiful site.
