Spanish River bridge and I-95 traffic alerts in October

Traffic will alternate in each direction over the Spanish River Boulevard bridge on weekends through October.

See the expected I-95 lane closures that may affect south Boca below.

The Spanish River Boulevard bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway east of Federal Highway/Route 1 to the ocean is being repainted and refurnished.

The eastbound closure will occur first, then the westbound lanes, weather permitting.

Here’s FDOT’s alerts:

·    One westbound lane may be closed 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., with one eastbound lane closed, 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday. One lane will remain open in each direction during this time.

·    Lane closures may be needed on the access road under the bridge, 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday through October. Flaggers will be on-site to direct traffic.

·    The bridge will undergo four weekends with full closures in October to conduct lock repairs and maintenance work. Only one of two bridge spans will be closed in each direction. That will allow for pedestrian and first-responder access.

The closure will begin at 5 a.m. Saturday and end at 5 a.m. the following Monday. At this time, the eastbound lanes are expected to close Oct. 5 to 7; westbound lanes closed Oct. 12 to 14; eastbound lanes closed Oct. 19 to 21; westbound lanes closed Oct. 26 to 28.

The entrance and exit on Spanish River Boulevard at Sea Ranch Club of Boca will also be closed during the westbound closures.

·    Detours include the Intracoastal bridges on Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real in Boca Raton.

Heads up for an I-95 closure on the south Boca border in Deerfield Beach. I-95 northbound lanes at Hillsboro Boulevard will be closed to traffic overnight Sunday Oct. 6 through Thursday Oct. 10. from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Traffic will be detoured to the northbound exit ramp to Hillsboro Boulevard. Then west to Military Trail, north/right to Palmetto Park Road and east/right to I-95 ramps.

Consecutive ramps will not be closed at the same time, according to an FDOT spokesperson.

The closure is for overhead sign structure installation as part of ongoing work on I-95.
