Dr. Jennifer Koutsodontis is a walking endorsement for her new 5th & Wellness in downtown Boca.
The center offers facial acupuncture, aesthetics, weight loss, hormone and IV therapy at 37 SE Fifth St., just off Federal Highway.
The co-founder was already trained and licensed in facial acupuncture, herbal medicine and dietary therapy. Then, inspired by two famous faces dealing with the same health issue, she went to medical school. “I had Bells Palsy in 2015, and so did Angelina Jolie and Katie Holmes,” she said.
So as a graduate of the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine, she went on to earn a medical degree from the University of Science, Arts and Technology.
Now her approach is “optimal health.”
“We should have the best of both worlds, integrating wellness, rather than simply looking or feeling good,” she said.
Koutsodontis has a following, and her patients come in pre- and post- surgery “for a speedy recovery. We’ve had patients see us for the effects of Lyme disease,” she added. “We’re very big on patient education.”
5th & Wellness does offer Botox/Dysport and dermal fillers. “Facial acupuncture preserves the life of existing Botox and fillers in combination with homeopathic dermal fillers,” she explained. “We can also reduce the appearance of cellulite.”
They also invested in an Optimas laser with an Morpheus8 subdermal device.
Here’s how that company describes the treatment: “This morphs the aging face or body into a more desired smooth and sleek appearance for all skin tones. There’s little or no thermal damage to the dermis…or risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.”
The laser tightens and resurfaces without the down time and helps with acne and other imperfections including sunspots, Koutsodontis added. “Hands show your age, so the laser removes brown spots.”
Koutsodontis’ partners are her fiancé Gadi Avrahami, CEO of Gadi Development, a builder who constructed and designed the ultra-modern center with five exam rooms. Her daughter Karissa Dickerson is running the business side.
Among her affiliations are the American Medical Association, American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and American College of Aesthetic Medicine.
